Privacy Policy — Pocket PDF — Offline PDF Tools
The short version
Pocket PDF collects no data. Your files are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded anywhere. The app uses an internet connection for one thing only: downloading optional AI model files when you tap Download in Settings.
Data we collect
None. Pocket PDF has:
- No user accounts and no sign-in
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
- No data collection of any kind — the app's only network activity is downloading optional AI model files at your request (see below)
Internet permission and AI model files
Pocket PDF requests the INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions for one purpose only: downloading optional AI model files when you tap Download in Settings → Offline AI. The app contains no analytics, no advertising SDKs and no accounts. Your documents are never uploaded, transmitted or shared by the app — all viewing, editing, searching and scanning happens entirely on your device. After a model is downloaded, every feature works fully offline, including in airplane mode.
The optional Smart Search model (about 157 MB) is downloaded from Maylua Studio's file server — with the model's public Hugging Face repository as a fallback — into app-private storage and verified by SHA-256 checksum before use. You can delete it at any time in Settings. No information about you or your documents is sent with the download, beyond the standard network request any file download makes.
How your files are handled
- You choose files with the Android system file picker. The app can only access the specific files you pick; it has no permission to browse your storage.
- Viewing, merging, splitting, compressing, organizing, converting and signing all happen locally on your device, including in airplane mode.
- Output files are written only where you choose in the system save dialog. Sharing or printing an output happens only when you tap Share or Print, and is handled by the Android system and the app you choose — never by us.
Information stored on your device
The app keeps the following only on your device, to make the app work:
- A recents list: the names, types and times of files you opened or created.
- Settings: your language choice, the daily free-task counter, and whether Pro is unlocked.
- Any AI model files you chose to download, and the on-device search index the app builds from documents you open — kept only in the app's private storage.
This information never leaves your device. It is deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
Purchases
If you buy Pocket PDF Pro, the payment is processed by Google Play under Google's own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your payment details.
Children
Pocket PDF is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It contains no ads and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this same address with a new effective date. If a future version of the app ever introduced a feature that needed the internet, this policy would be updated before that version is released.
